About Jack S. wahl

Jack Spencer Wahl was born in 1937 in Toledo, Ohio. He attended the University of Toledo, majoring in Fine Arts and continued his studies at the Society of Arts and Crafts in Detroit, Michigan. Mr. Wahl has studied with many successful artist over the past years including James Reynolds, Robert Bateman, Daniel Greene, Clyde Aspevig, David Leffel and George Strictland.

 

For twenty five years, Jack worked for two paint-by-number craft companies as a lead artist in creating the paintings for the crafts. He started with Craft Master and seven years later helped start Craft House, which after a few years became the largest paint-by-number craft company in the world. In 1987, Jack moved to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina and opened Wahl Gallery and Studio to paint full time and teach painting classes. In 1992, Jack spent four months painting on location creating forty plein-air oil paintings. His trip covered seventeen national parks, Sedona, Banff, Canada, Victoria, B.C. and down the west coast, ending in Yosemite National Park. Influenced by the western beauty, Jack moved to Tucson, Arizona, where he paints everyday.
